Big Inning Dooms Baseball in 11-6 Setback to Union

CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College baseball team dropped game one of their three-game Gulf South Conference series to Union University 11-6 on Friday March 30. With the loss, the Choctaw's record now sits at 20-8 overall, and 9-6 in GSC play.

TURNING POINT
- The Bulldogs cashed in for eight runs in the fourth inning to take the lead at 8-5, and steal away all of the momentum that the Choctaws had created in the previous innings. - Grant Barber, Blaine Crim and Luke Yancey all posted multi-hit efforts in the contest, with Yancey also accounting for a game-high two runs driven in.
- Chris Crosby (4-2) took the loss for the Choctaws on the mound. The junior right-hander surrendered seven earned over 3.1 innings of work.
- Brandon Kennedy, Shelby Craddock and Hunter Lacefield combined to toss the final 5.2 innings of the game, with Lacefield racking up three strikeouts and allowing no runs over his two innings of action.

- MC would double their lead to 4-0 in the second on Duplechain's homerun to left field, and a sacrifice fly from Grant Barber.
- The Choctaws would plate another run in the third inning, on a Duplechain single up the middle that scored Yancey.
- Union's eight-run 4thinning came on six hits, and saw the Bulldogs send 13 batters to the plate, highlighted by a streak of nine -straight Union hitters reaching base.
- The Bulldogs would go on to add a pair of runs in the 5th and an additional run in the 8th.
- MC would scratch a run in the 9th inning from a Yancey infield single, before giving way to the final 11-6 score.
