CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College baseball team dropped game one of their three-game Gulf South Conference series to Union University 11-6 on Friday March 30. With the loss, the Choctaw's record now sits at 20-8 overall, and 9-6 in GSC play.
 
TURNING POINT
- The Bulldogs cashed in for eight runs in the fourth inning to take the lead at 8-5, and steal away all of the momentum that the Choctaws had created in the previous innings. The Bulldog lead would hold for the rest of the game, as MC would go on to manufacture just one run over the next five frames.
 
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
- The Choctaws and the Bulldogs both tallied 12 hits in the contest, with both teams also logging two doubles on the night.
- 
Dylan Duplechain led the charge offensively for MC, with three-hits and two runs driven in. The sophomore infielder connected for MC's lone home run on the night, his first as a Choctaw.
- 
Grant Barber, 
Blaine Crim and 
Luke Yancey all posted multi-hit efforts in the contest, with Yancey also accounting for a game-high two runs driven in.
- 
Chris Crosby (4-2) took the loss for the Choctaws on the mound. The junior right-hander surrendered seven earned over 3.1 innings of work.
- 
Brandon Kennedy, 
Shelby Craddock and 
Hunter Lacefield combined to toss the final 5.2 innings of the game, with Lacefield racking up three strikeouts and allowing no runs over his two innings of action.
- Nolen Milton collected a team-best three hits on the night for the Bulldogs, while David Robbins drove in a game-high four runs on two hits for Union.
- JR Miller (4-3) picked up the win, tossing 8.2 innings and giving up six earned on the night.
 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Choctaws came out of the gate swinging, as MC was able to plate a pair of runs in the first courtesy of two-out RBI knocks from Crim and Yancey to take the lead at 2-0.
- MC would double their lead to 4-0 in the second on Duplechain's homerun to left field, and a sacrifice fly from 
Grant Barber.
- The Choctaws would plate another run in the third inning, on a Duplechain single up the middle that scored Yancey.
- Union's eight-run 4
thinning came on six hits, and saw the Bulldogs send 13 batters to the plate, highlighted by a streak of nine -straight Union hitters reaching base.
- The Bulldogs would go on to add a pair of runs in the 5
th and an additional run in the 8
th.
- MC would scratch a run in the 9
th inning from a Yancey infield single, before giving way to the final 11-6 score.

- The Choctaws will wrap their series with the Bulldogs with a doubleheader on Saturday, March 31 beginning at 1:00 p.m.
