CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College baseball team took both games of a Gulf South Conference double-header on Saturday against Union University, claiming the series at two games to one. The Choctaws won game one 3-2, and took game two 11-5.

With the wins, the Choctaws record now sits at 22-8 overall, and 11-6 versus GSC opponents.

GAME ONE
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Choctaws jumped on the Bulldogs early, with runs in the first and third innings all coming from
Blaine Crim. The junior first baseman plated
Kyle Smith in the first with a single through the right side, and knocked in
Grant Barber and Smith with a double to left field in the third.
- The Bulldogs grabbed their lone two runs of the game in the ninth inning, but it would not be enough to overcome their three-run deficit.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
- Crim's three runs batted in accounted for all of the MC offensive run production in game one.

Luke Yancey and Barber both logged a game-high two hits, with Smith scoring a game-high two runs.
- Nolen Milton recorded a team-high two hits in game one, while Caleb DeMarigny drove the Bulldogs lone two runs in the contest.
- On the mound,
Zack Ingram was lights out for the Choctaws, tossing 8.2 innings and surrendering zero earned runs. Â The sophomore-right hander struck out a season-high eight batters, while walking none.

Ryan Lane (4) collected his team-high fourth save of the season. Lane came in out of the bullpen to record the final out of the game on a strikeout.

NOTEWORTHY
- The Choctaw pitching staff handed out just one free pass in game one.
- Ingram held the Bulldogs to just a .182 average on the day, including a mark of .182 (2-11) with runners on base.

GAME TWO
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bulldogs got on the board first in game two, when David Robbins plated Chase Diggs on a sac fly to right, giving Union the 1-0 lead in the first.
- MC would tie the game up in the first, on a Yancey single that plated Smith.
- The Choctaws would take the lead in the third inning, which saw their most productive offensive effort of the game. MC pounded out six runs on four hits, with RBI contributions from Yancey,
Hunter Wilson,
Ty Alderman,
Hunter Sykes and Smith in the inning to take the lead at 7-1.
- The Choctaws extended their lead to 8-1 in the fourth, on an RBI fielder's choice from Yancey.
- The Bulldogs took a bite into the Choctaw's in their next couple of at-bats, with a run scored in the fifth and a pair of runs coming across the plate in the sixth.
- The Choctaws added key insurance runs in the sixth, courtesy of a 2-RBI double from Dylan Douplechain and a
Brandon Broussard RBI double to right.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
- It was once again Crim who had the hot bat for the Choctaws in game two, logging a team-high three hits and a team-high two runs scored. Â
- Yancey drove in a team-high three runs on a two-hit performance. Wilson and Broussard both recorded multi-hit efforts in the win, with Wilson scoring a team-high two runs and driving in two.
- Duplechain knocked in two runs in the game, in addition to scoring two runs.
- Diggs recorded a team-high two hits, in addition to scoring a team-high two runs for Union in game two. Hayden Lewis drove in a team-high two runs for the Bulldogs on the afternoon.

Austin Chastang (2-0) earned the win in relief out of the bullpen. The freshman righty tossed three innings of relief, surrendering just two runs and striking out one. Â

Ryan Lane worked the final three innings of the game, with Lane throwing the final two innings and striking out four.
- Scott Shearer (4-6) took the loss for the Bulldogs, allowing six earned in 2.1 innings of work.

NOTEWORTHY
- The Choctaws hit .423 (11-26) in game two, highlighted by a .421 (8-19) mark with runners on and an average of .385 (5-13) with runners in scoring position.
- Four of the Choctaws six leadoff hitters in the game reached base (.667) .
- The Choctaws pitching staff commanded the zone once again in game two, this time issuing just two free passes.

- The Choctaws will return to action on Wednesday, April 4 when they take on the Falcons of the University of Montevallo  in midweek action. First pitch from Montevallo, Ala. is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
