CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College baseball team will welcome the Bulldogs of Union University to Clinton, Miss. for a three game Gulf South Conference series this weekend. Game one will be played on Friday, March 30 at 6:00 p.m., with games two and three being played on Saturday, March 31 at beginning at 1:00 p.m.

STORY LINES AND NOTES
The Choctaws (20-10, 9-5 GSC) hold a 4-3 advantage in their brief history with the Bulldogs (10-20, 5-10 GSC), with the Choctaws winning the last two matchups in a shortened two-game series in Jackson, Tenn. last season.
In their most recent action, the Choctaws split a midweek doubleheader with the University of Montevallo on Tuesday March 27, dropping the first game 8-7, and winning game two 4-3.
Junior outfielder 
Luke Yancey's .372 batting average leads the Choctaws, who are hitting .318 as a team. Senior outfielder 
Kyle Smith leads the Choctaws and sits tied for 2nd in the conference with 11 doubles, in addition to ranking among the GSC's best in runs scored (32) and on-base percentage (.500).
On the mound, 
Chris Crosby (4-1) has posted a team-best 42 strikeouts in a team-high 47 innings pitched. The Saucier, Miss. native also paces the Choctaws with four wins on the season.
Relievers 
Ryan Lane an 
Austin Chastang have combined for five of the Choctaws nine saves on the season, with Lane accounting for three wins of out the bullpen. Chastang's opponents' batting average of .173 marks for the team low.
The Choctaws checked in at number seven in the most recent South Regional Rankings compiled by the NCBWA on March 26.
Union is coming off of a 14-2 loss to #17 Arkansas Monticello in their most recent game on Tuesday, March 27.
The Bulldogs are hitting .265 as a team, led by Chase Diggs and Charlie Ellis, who both pace the offense with a .333 batting average.
Reliever Brady Cook's earned run average of 3.60 leads the Bulldogs on the mound, while starter Scott Shearer's leads Union with four wins, in addition to posting a league-high three complete games.
Mississippi College is a private Christian university located in Clinton, Mississippi with an enrollment of over 5,000 students. MC recently finished their transition process back to NCAA Division II and the Gulf South Conference and started competing for conference and national championships in the 2016-17 academic year.
