CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College baseball team will welcome the University of Montevallo to Dickins-Scoper Stadium for a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday. First pitch for the two seven-inning contests is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.

THE SERIES
MC and Montevallo have met two previous times with the Falcons winning both matchups. The first meeting came back on April 3, 1991 with UM winning in Clinton, 12-11.
The Choctaws and Falcons met in Alabama on February 15th of last season with Montevallo grabbing a 6-4 victory. MC jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but the Falcons used a three-run home run in the 4th inning to get the come-from-behind victory. Chance Whitten and Will Elliott each homered for the Choctaws.

The Choctaws, led by 3rd-year head coach
Jeremy Haworth, are returning from a tough road series at North Alabama that saw them drop a 13-inning contest, 2-1, before bouncing back for a 7-0 win in the second contest. In the rubber match, MC took an 8-6 lead in the 8th, but the Lions roared back to win, 12-8.
The Choctaws rank 3rd in the league in batting average (.316) with
Luke Yancey (.384) leading the team and ranking 7th in the conference.
Kyle Smith (.354) is 6th in the conference in on-base percentage (.484), while Yancey (.481) is just behind. Smith also leads the team in runs scored (29) and doubles (10).
On the mound,
Chris Crosby (4-1, 2.68 ERA) has a team-best 42 strikeouts, followed by
Hunter Mullis (4-2, 3.02 ERA), who tossed the team's first shutout of the season in the win over North Alabama. Relievers
Ryan Lane and
Tommy Taborda have combined for five of the Choctaws seven saves on the season, with Lane accounting for three wins of out the bullpen.
The Choctaws checked in at number 21 in the most recent NCBWA, rankings, while coming in at number four in the south regional rankings compiled by the NCBWA.

Montevallo, led by 8th-year head coach Chandler Rose, just picked up a series win at West Georgia last weekend, picking up a 13-0 win in the rubber game of the three-game set.
Chad Wagner (.383) leads the team with 44 hits and is tied with Collin Dupree (.352) with a team-high nine doubles. Caleb Ledbetter (.364) has a team-best six home runs and 29 RBI.
Justin Whitley (3-2, 1.78 ERA) has been the mid-week starter for the Falcons over the last few weeks, picking up wins against Miles and Spring Hill. Kale Latorre (2-1, 2.70 ERA) leads the team with five saves.
