Men’s Tennis Topples Alcorn State, 7-2

CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College men's tennis team defeated division I opponent Alcorn State 7-2 on Tuesday, Feb. 20. With the win, the Choctaws improve to 4-1 on the year.
 
In doubles, Lucio Menezes and Max Nilges improved to a team-best 4-1 as a duo with their 8-5 ousting of Kert Kilumets and Stojan Stojanovski at the doubles number two spot. Freshman Ben Jarvis picked up his first collegiate doubles victory, when him and partner Sanders Barrick knocked off Nuno Rocha and Ivan Matas 9-7 at the doubles number three spot.
 
In singles action Marcos Rocca (6-2, 6-3) improved to a perfect 5-0 on the year in singles, with his 6-2, 6-3 over Johnatan Parat in the number three spot. Joan Valy (6-1, 6-2) and Jose Rodrigo Gonzalez (6-2, 6-1) both also downed their opponents in straight sets on the day.
 
The Choctaws will return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 28, when they host West Alabama in their Gulf South Conference opener. Match time at the MC Tennis Complex is slated for 2:00 p.m.
