Choctaws Sweep Series from McKendree

CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College baseball team completed a sweep over McKendree (Ill.) University with a 21-1 victory to improve to 7-1 on the season. McKendree falls to 0-3 on the campaign.
 
Turning Point
Billy Cameron posted the first homerun of the season and his MC career with a shot over the right center wall. The two-run homer, which plated Blaine Crim, extend the Choctaws lead to 7-0.
 
Inside the Box Score
  • Six Choctaws recorded multiple hit efforts led by Grant Barber and Cameron's four-hit efforts. Hunter Wilson, Crim and Luke Yancey each added three hits while Kyle Smith supplied a pair of hits.
  • Crim led the team with four RBI. Barber, Wilson and Cameron each drove in three while Yancey posted a pair of RBI.
  • Zack Ingram (1-0) tallied the win on the mound with seven strikeouts and four hits allowed.
 
Inside the Flow
  • Mississippi College posted a run in every inning, but one in the game. The Choctaws garnered a pair of six-run frames in the second and sixth and added a five-run, third inning.
  • After plating two runs in the first, Barber ignited the scoring output in the second inning with his second, RBI double to left center. The Mobile, Ala., native posted a RBI in each of the first three innings of the game.
  • Cameron recorded the first home run of the season for MC as he sent a shot over the right center wall to extend the lead to 7-0 in the second inning, scoring Crim.
  • McKendree's lone run came in the third frame as Luke Brening hit a home run to right field.

  • The 21 runs and 21 hits mark season-highs for Mississippi College.
  • The run total is the most since the Choctaws posted 21 against LeMoyne-Owen on Feb. 10, 2015.
  • Ingram's complete game is the first of the season for a Choctaw hurler.
  • Mississippi College completed the three-game series without committing an error.
  • The Choctaws' start is the best since 2010.
  • The three-game sweep is the first since Apr. 2, 2017 at Valdosta State.
