ARKADELPHIA, Ark. --- The Mississippi College men's tennis team notched their third-straight victory to begin the 2018 season with a 5-4 win over Harding University on Friday afternoon.

In doubles play,
Joan Valy and
Marcos Rocca (8-3), and
Lucio Menezes and
Max Nilges (8-2) helped the Choctaws grab the early 2-1 advantage with victories in their matchups. Menezes and Nilges Improved to a team-best 3-0 with their win at the doubles number two spot.

In singles play, Valy (6-1, 6-1), Menezes (6-2, 6-4) and Rocca (6-3, 6-3) all downed their opponents in straight sets. The trio all also improved their single's record to 3-0 on the season with their wins.

Following Valy's straight set win over Alejandro Sendra in the singles number one matchup, the Bison would go on to tie the match with singles victories at the number four and five spots. Rocca's straight-set victory over Pablo Trevino at the number three-spot helped the Choctaws regain the lead at 4-3, while Menezes straight set triumph over Carlos Crisostomo at the number two spot clinched the match for MC.

The Choctaws will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 17 when they wrap up play in the Ouachita Baptist Invitational against #14-ranked Southwest Baptist University. First serve is scheduled for 10:00 a.m.
