CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team fell 61-50 at A.E. Wood Coliseum. A pair of Lady Choctaws scored in double figures.
Zariah Matthews posted 17 points and
Jamilah Sanders added 12 points in the setback. Sanders also pulled down eight boards.

Najla Shamsid-Deen led Miles with 14 points while Mya Millnar grabbed a team-best eight rebounds as Taylor Terry and Jasmine Hollis each grabbed seven.

The Lady Choctaws shot 30.8 percent from the floor and 58.1 percent from the free throw line. Miles connected on 35.5 percent from the field and 53.8 from the charity stripe.

TURNING POINT
Miles College went on an 11-0 run during the final four minutes of the first half to erase an eight-point, Mississippi College lead. The scoring spurt gave the Golden Bears a five-point advantage at the intermission and never trailed again in the contest.

- Sanders' set a career-high in scoring. The Canton, Miss., native's previous best was nine points. The senior's rebounds also marked a season-high as it passed her previous high of seven. Both previous bests were highs from West Alabama last weekend. Sanders also added a career-high two blocks.
- The scoring efforts from Matthews surpassed a season-high. The junior was three points matching her career-best set last season against LeMoyne-Owen.
- For the third time this season the Lady Choctaws recorded a season-high five blocks.
- Moriah Hurst matched a season-high with three rebounds.
- Kaleigh Wren recorded her first collegiate block.
