CLINTON, Miss. --- Mississippi College's
Coco Hobson tied a GSC game-high this season with 18 rebounds and recorded the first double-double of the season as the Lady Choctaws grabbed their first Gulf South Conference win of the season with a 63-50 victory over Christian Brothers University on Monday, Dec. 17 at A.E. Wood Coliseum.

Hobson, a Brandon, Miss., native scored 15 points in the win.
Zariah Matthews posted a team-best 16 points while
Jamilah Sanders added a career-high 15 points.

The Navy and Gold shot 40.7 percent from the field and connected on 73.1 percent from the free throw line.

Kenzie Jones led CBU with 10 points as CBU shot 25.7 percent from the floor and hit 10 of 11 from the charity stripe.

After Christian Brothers clipped the Lady Choctaws' lead to four points, MC responded with a 15-2 run with 1:13 left before the half to take a 34-17 lead in the contest. Five Lady Choctaws scored during the stretch with Sanders leading the way with five points and
Kirsten Thompson adding four.

- Mississippi College held a 47-43 advantage on the glass. It marks the first time the Lady Choctaws have out-rebounded their opponents since Nov. 20 against the University of Arkansas-Monticello.
- The last time a MC player grabbed 15-plus rebounds in a game was Dec. 30, 2017 when former Lady Choctaw Kelley Allen grabbed 16 against Tougaloo College.
- The Lady Bucs shooting clip was the lowest by a MC opponent this season as it surpassed the 30.6 mark recorded by Arkansas-Monticello.
- Mississippi College remains unbeaten (3-0) against teams from the State of Tennessee this season.
- Matthews was a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line in the win.
- MC recorded a season-high six blocks in the game. Junior Kaitlyn Thompson led the team with three – a career-high for the Cleveland, Miss., native.

Mississippi College closes out the 2018 portion of the slate with a Dec. 31 non-conference matchup at Southern Arkansas University. The series between the Lady Muleriders and MC is tied at 2-2 with SAU taking the last two meetings. The New Year's Eve renewal of the series marks the first time the two teams have played since Dec. 30, 1996.
