2019 Mississippi College Schedule Release: Men's and Women's Tennis

CLINTON, Miss. --- Mississippi College athletic director Mike Jones, along with head coach David Boteler, are pleased to unveil the 2019 men's and women's tennis schedules, it was announced on Monday (December 10).

"We are very excited about what 2019 has in store for us," Coach David Boteler said. "We had tremendous success with our women's team last year and we will look to improve on that success from a year ago. For our men's team we'll be looking to bounce back and have a great 2019 season."

The Choctaws are coming off a 2018 season which saw them fall short of qualifying for the Gulf South Conference tournament and finished the year 8-10 (3-8 GSC). The Lady Choctaws are coming off an historic 2018 season in which the team earned the program's first NCAA Tournament bid. The women's team finished 20-3 (11-1 GSC).

Both the men and women with begin their 2019 slate with a Division I opponent when they host Jackson State on Monday, Feb. 11.

Both the men and women will open up GSC play on Thursday, Feb. 14 when they host Shorter at the MC Tennis Complex. Then both teams will close out the home February slate against another Division I opponent when they face Alcorn State on Wednesday Feb. 20th.

Before the Alcorn State match, the men's team will travel to Arkadelphia, Ark. to take part in the Ouachita Baptist Invitational on the weekend of Feb. 15th through the 17th. The women's team will travel to Arkadelphia, Ark. was well for the Ouachita Baptist Invitational the weekend after the Alcorn State match from Feb. 22th through Feb. 24nd.

Both the men and women will open the month of March with back to back GSC matches. First they will host UAH on Saturday, March 2nd and then travel to Livingston, Ala. on Wednesday, March 6th to face West Alabama.

After the West Alabama match both teams will have a three match road trip, starting with the women's team facing Nova Southeastern in Pensacola, Fl. on Friday, March 8th. Then both teams will be in action on Saturday, March 9th in Mobile, Ala. against Spring Hill College and then again in Mobile, Ala on Sunday March 10th against the University of Mobile.

MC will finish off their non-conference schedule at the MC Tennis Complex on Tuesday, March 12th when both teams will face former ASC conference foe UT Dallas.

MC will remain in GSC for the rest of the season after the UT Dallas match starting with two road matches. First they will travel to Christian Brothers on March 23rd and then travel to in-state rival Delta State on March 24th. Both teams will then return home to host Auburn Montgomery on March 30th and then host Lee on April 6th.

After the Lee match The Choctaws and Lady Choctaws will have three GSC matches in Pensacola, Fl. First MC will face Valdosta State on April 12th, next West Florida on April 13th and then the women will face West Georgia on April 14th.

MC will close out the 2019 regular season at home against Montevallo on Saturday, April 20th. Before the Montevallo match, both teams will honor their seniors with 'Senior Day' festivities.

 The Gulf South Conference Postseason Tournament will take place on Thursday, May 2nd through Saturday, May 4th at the Lagoon Park Tennis Facility in Montgomery, Ala.
 

Mississippi College is a private Christian university located in Clinton, Mississippi with an enrollment of over 5,000 students.
