Archie Griffin Headlines Another Successful Dr. Don Phillips Athletics Dinner

CLINTON, Miss. --- The 16th edition of the Dr. Don Phillips Athletics Dinner was another successful evening as friends and supporters of Mississippi College came together and helped to raise over $200,000 on Tuesday (Nov. 6) evening.

Two-time Heisman Trophy winner Archie Griffin, from The Ohio State University, was the keynote speaker for the event, spending some time in a Question and Answer session on stage with MC President, Dr. Blake Thompson.

"Tonight was another great night for Mississippi College Athletics," said athletic director Mike Jones. "We're so grateful that Archie Griffin took time out of his busy schedule to serve as the keynote speaker for the event. It was a great treat for our supporters, staff and student-athletes.

The event began with a meal provided by Campus Dining Services and was followed up by a pair of moving testimonies provided by Zairia Brown (Track & Field) and Tiberias Lampkin (Football), who were introduced by MC Fellowship of Christian Athletes Director, Justin Graves.

MC graduate Andy Taggart served as the emcee for the event, while Noel Daniels handled the live auction just prior to the Q&A session with Archie Griffin.

"This event helps to raise funds for all 17 of our NCAA-sponsored sports, and we could not do what we do without the support of some truly outstanding people," Jones went on. "I am so thankful that so many people think so highly of this athletic department to support it the way they do."

The $205,000 raised on Tuesday night is the second-highest total in the event's history.
