CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 9 as it travels to New Orleans, La., as it faces Loyola (La.) University. First serve of the non-conference tilt is set for 6 p.m. at the University Sports Complex.

LOYOLA (LA.) SERIES: Mississippi College looks to pick up its second straight win over Loyola (La.) after claiming a sweep last season over the Wolf pack. The win snapped a losing streak that stretched 17 contests. Last season's meeting marked the first since 2007.
BREAKING DOWN THE WOLF PACK: Loyola has dropped seven of its last eight contests this season with the only win coming by forfeit against Southern University at New Orleans. Tylar Beckham leads Loyola with 207 kills this season with Malea Howie narrowing on the 200-kill mark with 193. Beckham also paces Loyola with 88 total blocks.Â
LAURENDINE RECORDS FIRST TRIPLE-DOUBLE: Freshman
Lexie Laurendine etched her name into the Mississippi College record book as she recorded her first collegiate, triple-double and just the second in program history and the only one in GSC this season. Laurendine posted 15 kills, 22 assists and 12 digs against the University of Montevallo on Saturday. The 15 kills marked a season-high. The Clinton, Miss., native added a pair of double-doubles earlier in the week.
MAYS REAHCES 500-KILL PLATEAU: Redshirt junior
Shelby Grace Mays reached the 500-kill plateau on Saturday against the University of Montevallo as the Arab, Ala., native totaled nine kills. Mays now sets her sights on cracking the career top 10 in kills as she's 10 kills from reaching the list.
PLATT SETS SIGHTS ON SINGLE-SEASON KILLS MARK: Freshman Kenndall Platt moved up to seventh in single-season kills over the weekend. The Anaheim, Calif., native is five kills away from reaching the top five and 46 kills from the top three on the list. Liz Mullin sits atop the list with 410 kills in 1994 while Chandra Landry is second with 372.

Shelby Grace Mays made Mississippi College volleyball history as the Choctaws fall in four sets to the University of Montevallo. The Choctaws move to 7-14 on the season and 1-9 in Gulf South Conference action while UM improved to 16-3 and 7-2 in the league. Laurendine became just the second player in school history to record a triple-double and the first in the Gulf South Conference this season with 15 kills, 22 assists and 12 digs in the match. Mays became a member of the 500 career kill club with nine kills against the Falcons.
YOUTHFUL ABUNDANCE: Mississippi College stands as the third, youngest volleyball team in Division II this season. The Choctaws are the youngest team in the Gulf South Conference barely edging out Union University with five sophomores, two juniors and a senior along with the 11 freshmen. Union has three sophomores, three juniors and two seniors on their squad. Bloomsburg (Pa.) University leads Division II with 23 freshmen following by Tusculum (Tenn.) University has 15 freshmen on their 2018 roster.
