CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College men's soccer team suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 loss to the West Florida Argonauts in Gulf South Conference play on a rainy Thursday afternoon at Robert P. Longabaugh Field.

The Argonauts will improve to 10-3-2 overall and 8-1 in GSC play.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Choctaws came out firing on all cylinders and were able to strike first in the contest in the 10
th minute when
Joshua Robinson found
Victor Bazan who drilled it by the Argonaut goalkeeper to give MC a 1-0 lead.
- The MC defense would hold that 1-0 lead for the rest of half and the Choctaws went into the final 45 minutes of play with a goal advantage.
- In the second half is where things got intense, The Argonauts were finally able to tie the match in the 78
th minute on a corner kick play when Ed Chappe's cross found the head of Teague Coleman who put it in the net making it 1-1.
- Just three minutes later a foul was called on MC in the box which gave the Argos a chance to take the lead on a penalty kick. Chappe stepped up and did just that putting the ball in the bottom left corner of the net and giving UWF the 2-1 lead.
- Then in the 86
th minute a long ball from Choctaw goalkeeper
Goncalo Pernas was able to get behind the defense and find a running
Owen Connelly who took the pass, made a move around the keeper and scored what looked to be a match tying goal. However after the goal was scored the referee's reversed the call and said Connelly was offside and the Choctaws weren't able to recover from the call and the match ended 2-1 in favor of West Florida.
