PENSACOLA, Fla. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team fell 77-43 in Gulf South Conference action at the University of West Florida on Sunday afternoon. MC moves to 5-9 on the season and 1-7 in the conference. West Florida improved to 9-4 and 4-2 in league play.

West Florida grabbed a double-digit lead, 24-14, with 7:13 left in the first half on a layup by Halee Nieman. The basket was part of an Argos' 11-0 run.

Kelley Allen was the only Lady Choctaw to score in double figures as led MC with 14 points in the game. Allen also led the squad with eight rebounds.

Ieisha Lacey paced the Lady Choctaws with three assists in the contest while
Emery Wilson recorded two blocks in the setback.

Mississippi College shot 33.3 percent from the field in the contest while West Florida connected on 42.2 percent. The Argos also posted a clip of 77.8 from the free throw line.

West Florida had three players scoring in double figures led by Nieman's 14 points. Chloe Branch added 13 as Courtney Meyer added 10 points plus a team-best 15 rebounds.

West Florida opened the game with a 7-0. MC cut the deficit to two points on a couple of occasions during the first 10 minutes of play, but the Argos held a 17-12 advantage at the end of the first quarter. Allen placed the Lady Choctaws on the board with 7:07 left in the opening quarter as the senior scored the first four points for MC.

The Argos used an 11-0 run over a four-minute span in the second quarter to hold a 28-14 lead with 5:37 left to play in the half.
Kaitlyn Thompson halted the streak with layup to pull MC within 28-16 with 4:37 left in the quarter, however, UWF responded with a 7-0 to close out the half and take a 35-16 lead in at the intermission.

West Florida extended its lead to 21 points two minutes into the second half en route to the 34-point victory.

Noteworthy
Allen posted double figures for the 27th time in her career and seventh this season. It marked her fourth straight game scoring in double-digits.

Emery Wilson's two blocks tied a season-high set against Tougaloo on Dec. 30. The rejection total is one shy of equaling her career-high notched against Georgia State on Mar. 5, 2016.

With the three assists, Lacey has dished out three-plus assists, seven times this season with her career-high of six coming against LeMoyne-Owen on Nov. 18.
