CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team posted an 80-65 win over the University of Montevallo in Gulf South Conference action. MC improved to 6-10 on the season and 2-8 in the league while UM falls to 2-15 and 0-9 in the conference.

Turning Point
- Mississippi College used an 8-0 run over a minute and half span to push its lead back out to double-digits after Montevallo had clipped the deficit to nine points with 8:29 left in the game. MC never relinquished the double figure margin the remainder of the way. Lauran Sheriff led the way during the run with six of the eight points.

- Kelley Allen led Mississippi College with 21 points and 11 rebounds – both team bests on the night.
- Lauran Sheriff posted 16 points and 10 rebounds in the win – both marks second on the team on the evening behind Allen.

Mississippi College jumped out early and held a 20-12 lead at the end of the first quarter, but only led by five points at the intermission, 36-31, as the Falcons outscored the Navy and Gold 19-16 in the second quarter.

The Falcons kept the deficit with single digits early in the third quarter, but a Lacey jumper with 7:37 left in the period pushed the Lady Choctaws lead back to double figures at 45-35. UM whittled away at the margin and pulled within 51-44 with four minutes left in the third stanza on a Kiya Sain fastbreak, but it was as close as the Falcons got the remainder of the way. MC responded with a 5-0 run to close out the quarter and take a 56-44 lead after three. The Lady Choctaws grabbed its largest lead of the game with 6:38 left in the contest as Sheriff's layup placed MC up 68-51.

Noteworthy
- The win snapped a four-game slide by the Lady Choctaws this season and gave head coach Paul Allen Duke his first win over Montevallo.
- Allen secured her 10th career double-double and fifth of the season.
- Sheriff recorded her second, career double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
- The last time two players scored a double-double in the same game was Jan. 14, 2017 when Cortrice Golden and Ashley Minor accomplished the feat against North Alabama.
- Mississippi College is 1-1 this season when four Lady Choctaws scored in double figures.
- The free throw percentage marked a season-high as it surpassed the previous best shot against Auburn Montgomery earlier this season.
- The rebounding effort marks the first time has registered 40-plus boards in a game since Dec. 30 against Tougaloo.
- Freshman Hannah Shafer made her Mississippi College debut.
