JACKSON, Tenn. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team dropped a 3-1 contest at Union University on Tuesday, Sept. 26. MC moved to 7-7 on the campaign and 1-2 in Gulf South Conference action while Union improved to 10-6 on the season and 1-3 in conference action.
KEY NOTES
Kayana Mitchell led MC with 13 kills in the four sets. The Southaven, Miss., native finished one shy of her career mark of 14 kills at William Carey on Sept. 7. Mitchell also garnered five blocks – two off her season-high of seven against Grambling State and three short of matching a career-best.

Amanda Torres recorded a season-high with nine kills in the match. The San Juan, Puerto Rico, native surpassed her previous total of six set against Auburn Montgomery on Sept. 19.

Sydney Chandler dished out a team-best 20 assists in the match as the Silverhill, Ala., junior finished just five short of her season-best of 25 assists on Sept. 15 against Grambling State.

Madison Kimes logged a team-leading 11 digs in the match.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Mississippi College claimed the early point in the match with a 25-23 win in the opening set. MC took control early in the opener and never trailed in the contest. Union forced just two ties in the set with the last coming at 12-all. Union used both timeouts during the set following attack errors from Ceciley Blanchard.

Union took control early in the second set of the match as the Red and Black grabbed a 14-7 advantage and forced MC into its first timeout of the set. The Bulldogs cruised to a 25-13 win the set.

MC led the first part of the set, but Union tied the contest at 16-all and then grabbed a 17-16 advantage on a Clare Taylor kill.
Madison Frazier tied the contest at 17-all with a kill. UU responded with a 5-1 run to take a four-point lead. The Lady Choctaws rallied to clip the deficit to 23-22 on a kill by Mitchell, but Union used a pair of miscues to claim the set 25-22.

Union grabbed eight of the first nine points in the final set en route to a 25-13 win.
