CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team dropped a straight sets setback at A.E. Wood Coliseum on Saturday afternoon against Gulf South Conference foe the University of West Alabama. MC moves to 7-6 on the season and 1-1 in conference play while UWA picked up its first league win and improved to 9-5.
KEY NOTES
Hannah Ward made her Mississippi College debut and led the Navy and Gold with five kills in the match. The freshman from Grand Prairie, Texas also collected two digs.

Sydney Chandler dished out a team-leading 12 assists in the three sets while
Madison Kimes and
Ashton King reach recorded double-digit digs in the effort. Kimes paced the squad with 16 while King added a season-high 10 digs.

Autumn Frost recorded a season-best three digs in the three sets.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Mississippi College was met with an offensive attack from the Red and White. UWA posted a .223 attack percentage for the three sets, including a clip of .286 in the final set to clinch the match.

UWA claimed a 25-9 opening set win, including a 9-0 run to close out the point.

After falling behind in the second set, MC attempted to rally as it logged four consecutive points after trailing 23-14 to clip the deficit to 23-17. However, the Tigers closed the set out with the following two points.

UWA jumped out to an early lead in the final set holding as much as 20-10 advantage and concluded the match with five of the final seven points to ice the contest.

Mississippi College returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 26 as it travels to Jackson, Tenn., to face Union in a Gulf South Conference match. First whistle is set for 6 p.m.
