CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team opened Gulf South Conference action with a straight sets win over Auburn Montgomery on Tuesday, Sept. 19. MC improved to 7-5, 1-0 in the Gulf South Conference while AUM falls to 6-5 and 0-1 in the league.
KEY NOTES
Ashton King tallied a career-high 13 kills to lead Mississippi College while
Madison Frazier recorded a season-high 11 kills in the match. The duo also garnered new season-highs in digs as King collected eight and Frazier totaled five.

Sydney Chandler dished out a team-best 23 assists – one off her season-best – while
Amanda Torres added 13 assists. Torres, a native San Juan, Puerto Rico, also supplied a season-high six kills in the match.

Julia Martin set a career-best for the third time in a week with 17 digs to lead the Lady Choctaws. The mark surpassed her previous best of 15 set against Grambling State over the weekend.

Autumn Frost assisted on the defensive side with a season-high five blocks as she topped her previous mark of two set against Arkansas-Monticello over the weekend.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Tied at 10-all in the first set, MC used a 5-0 run to grab a 15-10 advantage led by a pair of kills from Torres as she sandwiched a kill from Mitchell and Frazier. The Warhawks added an attack error to cap the scoring spurt. The Lady Choctaws never looked back in the set as it claimed a 25-18 victory.

The Navy and Gold rallied in the second set to tie the contest at 21-all on a kill from Torres. The two squads exchanged leads and ties down the stretch, but MC capitalized on two AUM miscues to take a 2-0 advantage in the match with a 25-23 victory.

MC took control of the third set on a kill and service ace from King to push the score to 15-11. The Black and Orange attempted to rally as it cut the deficit to within a point on four different occasions, but the Lady Choctaws never relinquished the lead and closed the set on a pair of kills from Frazier.
