MONTGOMERY, Ala. --- The Mississippi College men's tennis team bowed out in the semifinals of the GSC Championship with a 5-0 loss to the top-seeded and #1 ranked team in the country in West Florida on Friday afternoon.
The loss caps off the Choctaws first full season of competition in both Division II and the Gulf South Conference. MC tallied a record of 11-10 overall, and 5-4 against GSC opponents.
In doubles, MC lost all three decisions by a score of 8-4. In the number one matchup, the number six-ranked doubles pair in the south region in
Joan Valy and
Marcos Rocca lost just their third match as a duo on the season. The duo put together an impressive record of 15-3 as a double's team in 2017. Valy, who boasted a single's record of 11-5, was also ranked #19 among individual players in the latest south region rankings for individuals.
The Choctaws will look to bounce back strong in 2018, with no graduating seniors on the current roster.
