MEMPHIS, TENN. --- The Mississippi College men's tennis team grabbed their fourth victory in a row in a 9-0 shutout win over Gulf South Conference opponent Christian Brothers University on Sunday afternoon. The Choctaws did not drop a single set to the Bucs in the shutout victory. With the win, MC improves to 6-4 overall and 2-0 in GSC play.
In singles action,
Marcos Rocca recorded his team-best seventh win with an 8-0 victory over Austin Essary in the number three slot.
Joan Valy (8-1) and
Max Nilges (8-0) both took down their opponents by a margin of at least seven sets.
Lucio Menezes (6-1, 6-3),
Trey Randall (6-1, 6-1) and
Petar Damjanovic (6-0, 6-0) all ousted their opponents in straight sets.
In doubles play, Rocca and Valy improved to 6-1 as partners with their 8-4 victory over Nick Wiseman and Austin Essary. Menezes and Damjanovic defeated Daniel D'Alto and Nick Cotro 8-3, and
Sanders Barrick and Nilges trumped Max Wilson and Swamy Sriraman 8-0.
The Choctaws will return to action on Wednesday, March 22 when they travel to Cleveland, Miss. to face off against in-state and conference rival Delta State. First serve is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
