CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team snapped a three-game skid on Thursday, Feb. 9 as the Lady Choctaws (11-10, 8-9 Gulf South Conference) topped Shorter University in a pivotal GSC contest, 64-58.

TURNING POINT
- A Cortrice Golden layup with 8:21 left in the game placed MC up 51-50. It was the first lead for the Navy and Gold since the 7:45 mark of the third quarter and sparked a 9-0 run to place the squad in front for good.

KEY STATS
- Kelley Allen recorded her fourth double-double of the season. The Puckett, Miss., native scored a team-best 18 points and grabbed a team-leading 11 rebounds in the win. The junior was 7-for-12 from floor and 4-of-4 from the free throw line.
- MC got valuable minutes from Kaitlyn Thompson as the Cleveland, Miss., freshman scored seven points and garnered six rebounds in 21 minutes off the bench.
- Ashley Minor and Golden finished second on the team in scoring with eight points each.
- Shorter was led by Taylor Adams. Adams totaled 20 points and 15 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Mississippi College led 11-9 after the first quarter, but found itself tied at 28-all at the intermission after the Hawks outscored MC 19-17 in the second period.
- Shorter took a 36-34 lead with 7:15 left in the third quarter on a 3-pointer by Brittany Greene. The Blue and White maintained the advantage and grabbed its largest lead of the game at 2:43 mark of the period behind a pair of free throws from Adams.
- The Lady Choctaws used a 12-5 run to erase the deficit and setup up the Golden layup to give MC the lead for good in the final quarter.
- MC grabbed its largest lead of the game, 60-50, on an Olivia Mabry 3-pointer with 4:50 left to play.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Mississippi College's bench outscored the Hawks' reserves 23-15 behind the effort of Thompson. The freshman post finished tied for fourth in scoring alongside fellow freshman Ieisha Lacey.
- The Lady Choctaws held Shorter to a 34.5 percentage from the floor. MC is 6-3 when holding the opposition to under 40 percent from the field this season.
- The contests featured 14 lead changes and seven ties during the 40 minutes of play.
- MC outscored Shorter 32-26 in the paint.
