CARROLLTON, Ga. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team dropped a 73-59 decision at the University of West Georgia on Thursday afternoon at the Coliseum on the campus of UWG. MC moves to 12-13 and 9-12 in Gulf South Conference action while the Wolves improve to 14-11 and 13-8 in league play.

TURNING POINT
- After leading 51-48 after three quarters, West Georgia opened the fourth quarter with a 9-0 run to claim a 12-point lead with 5:47 left to play.

KEY STATS
- Mississippi College got double figures scoring efforts from Lanae' Bickham and Ashley Minor in the setback. Bickham poured in a team-best 15 points while Minor added 13.
- Kelley Allen led MC on the glass with nine rebounds while Kaitlyn Thompson grabbed six – second most on the squad.
- De'Ashia Jones led West Georgia with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Aysha Harris added 19 points while Bre'ana Singleton supplied 10 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- MC hit the first two buckets of the contest to grab an early 5-0 lead with 9:03 left in the first quarter. Bickham opened the scoring with a 3-pointer less than 30 seconds into the game and Allen followed with a layup. The advantage would be the largest of the game for the Navy and Gold.
- After a back and forth contest through the first half, West Georgia grabbed 31-29 at the break behind a pair of free throws from Harris.
- UWG expanded its lead to 37-29 behind a quick 6-0 run. However, the Lady Choctaws whittled away at the deficit and grabbed a 44-42 lead with 4:11 left in the third period.
- The Wolves responded with a 9-4 run to close out the third quarter to hold the three-point advantage.
- Olivia Mabry nipped the double-digit deficit to 61-50 on a 3-pointer with 5:38 to play.
- West Georgia reached its largest lead in the contest with 52 seconds to play on a free throw by Chloe Neil.
