CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College men's tennis team defeated the Braves of Alcorn State University 6-3 on Wednesday evening, improving their overall record to 2-3 on the season.
In doubles action,
Marcos Rocca and
Joan Valy bested Nikita Kostikov and Kert Kilumets 7-5.
Lucio Menezes and
Petar Damjanovic grabbed the Choctaws other doubles point, defeating Suyash Gupta and Ivan Matas 6-3.
MC dominated the singles portion of the match, grabbing four of the six possible points. Valy picked up his first singles win of the year, knocking off Nikita Kostikov in straight sets (6-1, 6-4). Rocca (6-1, 6-3), Damjanovic (6-1, 7-5) and
Max Nilges (7-5, 6-3) all also won their matchups in straight sets.
The Choctaws will return to action on Tuesday, Feb. 28 when they travel to Hattiesburg, Miss. to for a match against Southern Miss. First serve is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
