MEMPHIS, Tenn. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team claimed a 79-67 win at Christian Brothers University on Thursday, Feb. 16. MC improves to 12-11 and 9-10 in the Gulf South Conference. CBU falls to 12-11 and 9-10 in the league.

TURNING POINT
- With CBU clipping the lead to 72-65 with 1:38 to play, Mississippi College hit six of its final seven free throws to ice the contest. MC shot 88.2 percent from the stripe for the game – the third-best clip from the line this season.

KEY STATS
- Four Lady Choctaws scored in double figures, including three scoring 14 points each to help lead MC to its 12-point win over the Lady Bucs. Kelley Allen, Cortrice Golden and Kaitlyn Thompson each led the team with 14 points while Olivia Mabry added 10 points.
- MC shot 44.8 percent from the floor, including a clip of 36.4 percent from behind the arc. The Choctaws also out-rebounded the Lady Bucs 42-36 in the outing.
- Courtney Banks led CBU with 18 points while Samantha Reeves added 15 points and 12 rebounds. Rachel Lee compiled 16 points, including going 11-for-11 from the free throw line.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- MC took a 32-30 lead in at the intermission as Shuntavia Rodgers completed a 3-point play with a layup and free throw with two seconds left in the half.
- The Lady Choctaws outscored CBU 25-12 in the third period to grab their first double-digit lead 46-35 on a 3-pointer from Ashley Minor with 4:13 to play in the quarter.
- MC kept the pressure on the Red and Black as it grabbed its largest lead of the game, 67-48, with 7:39 left to go on a 3-pointer by Ieisha Lacey.
- CBU attempted to rally in the contest as it clipped the deficit to seven points on two occasions, the last coming with 53 seconds left to play on a pair of Lee free throws.
- MC closed the game on a 5-0 lead behind free throws Lanae' Bickham, Allen's steal and layup and Golden hitting the front end of a pair of shots from the charity stripe.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- MC was able to punish the Lady Bucs in the paint as it outscored CBU 44-18, including an 11-point (16-5) advantage in fastbreak points.
- The Lady Choctaws also gained 30 points from its bench headlined by Thompson's 14 points.
- MC also used its advantage on the glass to score 20 second chance points and holding a plus-12 advantage over CBU.
