CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team fell in straight sets in the home finale to Union University (25-18, 25-23, 25-23). MC moved to 10-21 on the season and 2-13 in the Gulf South Conference while Union improved to 15-16 and 5-11 in the league.
NOTES
Sydney Chandler recorded her 16th career double-double in the match with 13 assists and 10 digs – both led the team. The Silverhill, Ala., native has six double-doubles this season, which leads the team.

Kayana Mitchell with a block assist in the match equaled Katie Rowland for career block assists with 235. The Southaven, Miss., native needs one to set the program record.

Ashton King paced the Lady Choctaws offensively with 13 kills, which ties her season-best set against Auburn Montgomery earlier this season.

Amanda Torres tied Chandler for tops on the team with 13 assists and added two block assists.
Gracie Liljenquist tied a season-high with a team-leading three blocks in the match.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After falling behind early in the opening set,
Madison Kimes delivered a service ace to pull MC within 10-8, part of a 5-0 run. However, Union responded with a 6-1 spurt to extend its lead to 16-10. The Lady Choctaws rallied for four straight points, but never drew closer to Union as they fell 25-18 in the set.

A tightly contested, second set saw the two squads exchange leads and ties with MC holding a 23-22 lead, but mishandle on a set allowed the Bulldogs to tie the contest at 23-all. Union then capitalized on a pair of attack miscues to claim the final two points and take a 2-0, match lead.

MC opened with a 5-0 run in the final set of the match, but witnessed Union rally. The two squads stood tied at 22-all following a Torres' kill. However, a service error gave the Bulldogs the lead and sparked a 3-1 run to give Union a 25-23 third-set and match-clinching win.
