FLORENCE, Ala. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team closed the 2017 campaign with a straight sets loss at the University of North Alabama. MC finished the season 10-22 and 2-14 in the Gulf South Conference. UNA improved to 26-6 and 14-2 in the league.
NOTES
Kayana Mitchell became the program's block assist leader in the match as the Southaven, Miss., native collected five to surpass Katie Rowland with 240 career block assists. The senior closes her career ranked second in total blocks (292), fourth in kills (668), and sixth in solo blocks (52).

Ashton King led Mississippi College with five kills in the match. The Collierville, Tenn., product finished her four-year career with 568 kills, which ranks seventh in the school history.

Krista Zieschang, Mitchell and
Gracie Liljenquist each added a pair of kills. Zieschang closes her four seasons with 526 career kills – eighth in program history.

Sydney Chandler closes out her collegiate career with 1,758 assists after she dished out a team-best seven in the match.
Madison Kimes gathered a team-leading nine digs in the match as the St. Louis, Mo., native finished her career ranked third in the program with 963.

Lexie Bradley paced UNA with 17 kills in the match.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After exchanging the first few points, North Alabama went on a 7-0 run to claim a 10-3 lead in the opening set. MC drew as close as 14-8 in the set, but couldn't overcome the deficit as UNA closed the set on a 5-0 run to win 25-15.

North Alabama opened the second set with a 7-0 run and rode it a 25-7 victory and a 2-0 lead in the match. The Lions kept up the pressure in the third set as it opened the third set with a 10-3 run en route to a 25-14 match-clinching win.
