RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball dropped a 92-45 contest at Arkansas Tech University on Tuesday evening. The setback was the first of the season for MC, which moved to 2-1 on the campaign. ATU improved to 4-0 on the season.
TURNING POINT
Arkansas Tech opened the second period with a 10-2 run capped by a 3-pointer from Kylie Ladd with 7:24 left before the half.
KEY STATS
Ieisha Lacey led Mississippi College with a career-high 16 points. The point total surpassed her previous best of 15 set at Southern-New Orleans on Nov. 14. The Jackson, Miss., product also grabbed a team-best nine rebounds as she bested her previous mark of five set against LeMoyne-Owen last Saturday.

Moriah Hurst registered her collegiate points in the contest. The Wilmington, Del., native totaled eight points.

Lauran Sheriff tied a season-best with seven rebounds in the setback. Sheriff recorded seven boards at SUNO to open the season.

Jacie Higgins paced a quartet of Lady Suns in double figures with 18 points.

Arkansas Tech scored 51 points off of 42 MC miscues in the contest.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Arkansas Tech opened the contest with a 7-0 run, however Mississippi College rallied to deadlock the contest at 7-all. MC grabbed its first lead of the game, 9-7, on a jumper by
Zariah Matthews with 5:33 left in the quarter. The two teams exchanged lead changes until the Golden Suns went on a 6-0 run to close out the quarter and hold a 16-11 advantage.

Arkansas Tech opened the second period with a 10-2 run capped by a 3-pointer from Kylie Ladd with 7:24 left before the half. The Green and Gold grabbed its largest lead of the half, 41-18, with 2:25 left in the quarter on a free throw by Jacie Higgins. ATU took a 42-22 lead in at the intermission.

The Golden Suns didn't relent as it continued to apply pressure to the Lady Choctaws through the final two quarters as they gained their largest lead of the contest at 83-40 with 2:31 left in the game.
