CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team fell in straight sets on Friday evening against the University of West Georgia. MC falls to 7-10 on the season and 1-5 in Gulf South Conference play while the Wolves improve to 2-12 on the year and 1-5 in the league.

KEY NOTES
Madison Frazier tied a season-high with 11 kills to lead the squad. The high equals her mark against Auburn Montgomery on Sept. 19.

Krista Zieschang tallied a career-high with four blocks on the night. The Houston, Texas, native surpassed her previous best of three.

Sydney Chandler led the squad with 17 assists while Amanda Torres dished out 12. Jill Brown helped guide the defensive effort with 13 digs while Autumn Frost finished a block shy of Zieschang with three in the effort.

The contest marked the head coaching debut of former Lady Choctaw libero, Holly Tupper.
HOW IT HAPPENED
A back and forth contest through the first with both teams holding narrow advantages, UWG knotted the contest at 20-all on a kill from Anjelina Webb. The kill sparked a 5-0 run by the Wolves to close out the set as the Red and Blue capitalized on a pair of MC miscues down the stretch.

The Wolves took command early in the second set as they reached a 13-6 lead. MC attempted to rally late clipping the deficit to 21-17, but four straight points helped lead UWG to a 2-0 lead as it claimed the second set 25-17.

A tightly contest, final set, the Lady Choctaws held a 24-21 lead, but the Red and Blue managed to tie the contest at 24-all. The two squads exchanged leads and ties down the stretch, with the final deadlock coming at 27-all behind a Frazier kill. However, UWG rattled off the final two points to claim the set 29-27.
COACH TUPPER'S COMMENTS
"It was a hard fought match, but we didn't execute down the stretch. We are excited by what we saw and can't wait to get back in the gym tomorrow against Montevallo."
NEXT UP
Mississippi College returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 7 as it hosts the University of Montevallo. The match is slated for 1 p.m. Fans are encouraged to wear purple to contest as MC hosts its Second Annual Crohn's Awareness Match.
