@GoChoctawsVB Topped in Straight Sets at West Georgia

CARROLLTON, Ga. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team dropped a three-set match to the University of West Georgia on Tuesday, Oct. 31. MC moves to 10-19 and 2-11 in the Gulf South Conference while the Wolves improve to 4-23 and 3-10 in the conference.
NOTES

Krista Zieschang continues to lead the Lady Choctaws offensively in the last three matches. The Houston, Texas, senior posted 10 kills for her third, straight double-digit kill effort and sixth of the season.

Hannah Ward notched a season-high with eight kills in the match. The Grand Prairie, Texas, native surpassed her previous best of five kills against West Alabama on Sept. 23. The freshman also matched a season-best with a block – giving her three contests with at least one rejection this season (Sept. 26 at Union; Oct. 6 vs. West Georgia)

Madison Girndt tied a career-high with three blocks in two sets – the last coming last season on Oct. 14 against Florida Tech. Hannah Rue tied a season-high with a pair of digs as she equaled the mark at Valdosta State on Oct. 21.

Amanda Torres and Sydney Chandler tied for the team-lead with 13 assists each while Julia Martin added a team-best 10 digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED

West Georgia grabbed a 15-10 lead in the first set after a back and forth opening. The Red and Blue extended the lead to as much as 23-14 before it grabbed a 25-17 win.

UWG opened the second set with a 6-1 run, but the Lady Choctaws rallied to grab their first lead of the set at 15-14. The two squads exchanged leads and ties down the stretch, but MC held a 24-21 advantage and the threat of tying the match at a set each. However, three straight, McKenna Wharton kills headlined a 5-0 run by the Wolves to clinch the set 26-24.

West Georgia rode a 7-1 run to open the third set and clinch the match. The Red and Blue grabbed a double figure lead at 17-7 en route to a 25-12, match-clinching decision.
