CARROLLTON, Ga. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team dropped a three-set match to the University of West Georgia on Tuesday, Oct. 31. MC moves to 10-19 and 2-11 in the Gulf South Conference while the Wolves improve to 4-23 and 3-10 in the conference.

Krista Zieschang continues to lead the Lady Choctaws offensively in the last three matches. The Houston, Texas, senior posted 10 kills for her third, straight double-digit kill effort and sixth of the season.

Hannah Ward notched a season-high with eight kills in the match. The Grand Prairie, Texas, native surpassed her previous best of five kills against West Alabama on Sept. 23. The freshman also matched a season-best with a block – giving her three contests with at least one rejection this season (Sept. 26 at Union; Oct. 6 vs. West Georgia)

Madison Girndt tied a career-high with three blocks in two sets – the last coming last season on Oct. 14 against Florida Tech.
Hannah Rue tied a season-high with a pair of digs as she equaled the mark at Valdosta State on Oct. 21.
Amanda Torres and
Sydney Chandler tied for the team-lead with 13 assists each while
Julia Martin added a team-best 10 digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED

West Georgia grabbed a 15-10 lead in the first set after a back and forth opening. The Red and Blue extended the lead to as much as 23-14 before it grabbed a 25-17 win.

UWG opened the second set with a 6-1 run, but the Lady Choctaws rallied to grab their first lead of the set at 15-14. The two squads exchanged leads and ties down the stretch, but MC held a 24-21 advantage and the threat of tying the match at a set each. However, three straight, McKenna Wharton kills headlined a 5-0 run by the Wolves to clinch the set 26-24.

West Georgia rode a 7-1 run to open the third set and clinch the match. The Red and Blue grabbed a double figure lead at 17-7 en route to a 25-12, match-clinching decision.

Mississippi College returns to the road in Gulf South Conference action as it travels to Livingston, Ala., to face the University of West Alabama. Match time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
