@GoChoctawsVB Senior Day Spoiled

CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team fell in straight sets against the University of Alabama in Huntsville on Saturday afternoon. MC moved to 10-18 and 2-10 in Gulf South Conference play while the Chargers improved to 20-10, 8-4 in the league.
NOTES
For the second straight match, Krista Zieschang paced the Lady Choctaws' attack with 11 kills. It marked the fifth, double-digit kill effort for the Houston, Texas, native.

Sydney Chandler directed the MC offense with 13 assists in the contest. The program's assist leader now stands with 1,721 career assists.

Tessa Liljenquist dished out six assists in the match. The freshman from Dyersburg, Tenn., was just one off her season-best set against Tougaloo College on Oct. 11. Liljenquist recorded a season-high five digs in the match to surpass her previous mark of two.

Madison Kimes poured in 11 digs in the match. The St. Louis, Mo., product inched within 30 digs of Amanda Greene for second all-time in the program.

Anna Claire Johnson led UAH with eight kills.
HOW IT HAPPENED
UAH opened with a 7-1 run in the first set and marched out to a 17-7 lead, behind a service ace from Anna Claire Johnson, en route to a 25-14 opening win.

The Lady Choctaws held their own in the early part of the second set, but the Blue and White strung together a 9-2 run to take a 15-5 advantage in the set. MC attempted to rally and it put together a 5-0, but the Chargers were too much as they closed the set with three of the final four points to capture a 25-14 win.

Mississippi College held a 13-11 lead in the final set, but witnessed the Chargers go on a 5-0 run to grab a 16-13 lead in the set. MC rallied to clip the deficit to 20-18, but UAH claimed five of the last seven points to clinch the match with a 25-20, third set win.
COACH TUPPER'S COMMENTS
We continue to grow as a team and strive to be better every time we step on the floor. It's not the outcome we wanted today, especially for the seniors, because of what they've meant to this program. We will refocus and continue to work hard.
NEXT UP
Mississippi College returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 31 as it travels to the University of West Georgia. Match time is scheduled for 5 p.m. central.
