CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team dropped a straight sets contest against the University of North Alabama on Friday, Oct. 27. MC moved to 10-17 on the season while the Lions improved to 21-6 and 9-2 in the league.

Amanda Torres paced the Lady Choctaws with 13 assists while Sydney Chandler dished out 10 assists in the match.

North Alabama's Lexie Bradley led the squad with 14 kills while Jessica Austin added 11 and a team-best five blocks for the Lions. Jayden Davila-McClary supplied 35 assists for the Purple and Gold.
HOW IT HAPPENED
UNA unrolled eight straight points to take commanding lead in the opening set. Following a Gracie Liljenquist kill, the Purple and Gold grabbed the next three points to take its first double-digit lead of the set at 11-1 en route to a 25-12 victory.

For the second consecutive set, UNA posted an impressive opening to the set as it grabbed a 6-0 advantage. MC rallied behind three straight kills from Zieschang to clip the lead to 7-4, but the Lions responded with the next four points to extend the margin to 11-4. The Lady Choctaws worked their way back into the contest cut the deficit to 20-17 behind a UNA miscue, but the Purple and Gold notched five of the final six points to close out the set at 25-18.

MC found itself behind 10-1 in the final set, but manage to work back into the contest as it clipped the lead to 12-9 with a Julia Martin service ace sandwiched between a kill from Zieschang and Hannah Rue. A 6-0 spark pushed the advantage back out for the Lions at 18-10. The Lady Choctaws attempted to climb back into the set at 21-15 behind a pair of kills from Zieschang, but UNA never relinquished the lead as it closed out the set and match with 4-0 run and a 25-16 victory.
COACH TUPPER'S COMMENTS
North Alabama has dynamic hitters. I thought we competed at times and other times we didn't execute. We saw some things we liked tonight, but also several areas where we can improve and grow.
NEXT UP
Mississippi College returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 28 as it hosts the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Match time is set for 2 p.m. with Senior Day recognition prior to the match.
