VALDOSTA, Ga. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team fell in straight sets at Valdosta State University on Saturday afternoon. MC moved to 10-16 on the season and 2-8 in the Gulf South Conference. VSU improved to 10-12 on the season and 5-5 in the league.

Freshman
Hannah Rue paced the Lady Choctaws with eight kills on the day while
Amanda Torres dished out a team-best 14 assists in the match. Defensively,
Julia Martin provided eight digs while
Krista Zieschang and
Gracie Liljenquist each added a block assist.

Tristyn Sells led the Lady Blazers with eight kills.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The two teams stood tied at 7-all in the first set, but Valdosta State broke the set open behind a 6-1 run to claim a 13-8 lead. The Lady Blazers never looked back en route to a 25-15 opening set win.

MC used an attack error to climb within 15-13 over the Lady Blazers in the second set, but the Red and Black went on a 6-1 run to extend its lead to 21-14. VSU claimed four of the final five points in the set to close out the set 25-17.

Valdosta State opened with a 9-2 run in the final set and closed the match out with a 5-1 run to win the set 25-13.

Mississippi College returns to action on Friday, Oct. 27 as it hosts the University of North Alabama. Match time is slated for 6 p.m.
