HOW IT HAPPENED
West Florida opened the first set with a 16-8, including four, straight points, and forced the Lady Choctaws into their first timeout of the set. The Argos kept applying pressure to MC as they grabbed a 20-10 advantage and sparked the final six points to claim a 25-10 win.
Â
Mississippi College and UWF exchanged leads and ties through the first 16 points of the second set with the two squads standing deadlocked at 8-all. UWF broke the tie with five straight points to hold a 13-8 advantage. MC held close to the Green and Blue as it closed the slim deficit to within 15-14 on a kill from
Gracie Liljenquist and service ace by Torres. However, UWF responded with a 9-2 run to widen the lead. A
Sophia Smith kill delayed the set-point, but Kulhmeier added one of her team-leading kills to finish the set at 25-17.
Â
A 10-2, UWF run to open the third set was too much to overcome for the Lady Choctaws. The Argos used a pair of 5-0 run en route to a 25-7, set and match-clinching win.
