CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team returns to Gulf South Conference action this weekend as the Lady Choctaws (10-14, 2-6 GSC) travel to Pensacola, Fla., and Valdosta, Ga. MC opens the weekend, road swing against the 24th-ranked University of West Florida on Friday, Oct. 20 at 5 p.m. First whistle on Saturday, Oct. 21 at Valdosta State University is slated for 12 p.m. central.
Mississippi College looks to snap a two-game slide as it hits the road this weekend. The Lady Choctaws have dropped back-to-back, straight set loss, including a setback against Christian Brothers on Tuesday, Oct. 17.

The Lady Choctaws look for their first win against West Florida and Valdosta State. UWF and VSU both hold 6-0 advantages in the series.

Mississippi College recorded its first back-to-back, 10-win seasons since the 2011 and 2012.

West Florida is the first nationally-ranked program the Lady Choctaws have faced this season and the first since Oct. 1, 2016 when they faced No. 24 North Alabama in Florence.

Krista Zieschang tied her career-high with 18 digs in the contest against CBU. The mark equaled her best mark set against Williams Baptist on Sept. 9, 2016.
Gracie Liljenquist posted her first collegiate, service ace against the Lady Bucs.

Kayana Mitchell leads the Navy and Gold offensively with 179 kills this season and has totaled a team-leading 70 total blocks. Zieschang sits second on the team with 141 putaways.
Sydney Chandler and
Amanda Torres share the distribution duties for the squad. Chandler leads the team with 436 assists while Torres has 339.
Jill Brown assists in the defensive effort as the Elkhart, Ind., native protects the backline with 262 digs.

Chandler sits four service aces shy of cracking the top three in program history. The Silverhill, Ala., native has 86 career aces and sits behind Amanda Green and Christy Bevell who are tied with 90 career aces.

Mitchell is also two blocks assists away from being the program record holder. The senior has 234 assisted blocks in her four-year career and sits behind program record holder Katie
Rowland.

West Florida enters the weekend with an 18-6 record and an unblemished 8-0 in the GSC. The Lady Argos have won 17 of their last 19 with the two hiccups coming at the GSC-SSC South Region Crossover in Hoover, Ala., where they dropped a four-set contest to Palm Beach Atlantic and were outlasted in five sets by Eckerd College.

UWF sports a trio of players with 200-plus kills led by Rachel Neblett with 285. Nadine Williams ranks second on the team with 231 kills followed by Jordyn Poppen with 210. Monique StCyr directs the UWF offense with 782 assists. Logan Kael and Neblett help assist in the defensive effort. Neblett leads the team with 85 total blocks while Kael has a team-best 321 digs.

Valdosta State comes into the weekend having dropped its last four outings, including a five-set loss to West Florida. VSU is 9-11 on the season and 4-4 in the GSC.

Tristyn Sells leads the Lady Blazers with 189 kills while Sara Dandridge has a team-best 608 assists. Defensively, Sydney Chick has 339 digs with Lindsey Robinson and Kayla Widera adding 47 and 42 total blocks respectively.
