CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team fell in straight sets (25-18, 25-19, 25-21) to Christian Brothers University in its return to Gulf South Conference action. MC moves to 10-14 and 2-6 in GSC action while CBU improves to 12-13 and 5-4 in the league.
NOTES
Krista Zieschang,
Amanda Torres and
Gracie Liljenquist tied for the team lead with six kills each in the match.
Sydney Chandler directed the offensive with a team-best 15 assists while Torres added 10 assists in the three sets.

Zieschang also paced the squad with 18 digs while
Jill Brown added 12.
Julia Martin rounded out the trio with 11 digs.

Emma Lenior and Erica Maurer tied for tops on the team for CBU with nine kills each.
HOW IT HAPPENED
A back and forth opening set saw the two teams tied at 13-all before CBU went on a 5-1 run to grab an 18-14 lead. MC attempted to rally late in the set as it pulled the deficit to 18-16, but the Red and Black wouldn't relinquish the lead as it closed the set on a 7-2 run.

MC jumped out early in the second as it held a 7-2 advantage. The Lady Bucs chipped away at the deficit and knotted the match at 14-all and claimed their first lead of the set at 15-14 on a MC miscue. The slip opened the door for a 5-0 run to give CBU a 19-14 lead en route to the six-point, set win.

CBU held a 15-10 lead midway through the final set, but the Lady Choctaws rallied to the clip the deficit to within a point behind kills from
Madison Frazier,
Hannah Rue and Liljenquist. However, the Lady Bucs responded with a 6-0 run to extend their lead to 24-18. MC fought off four, straight set points before falling 25-21.
COACH TUPPER COMMENTS
We need to strive to continue and get better day in and day out. This is a tough conference and we need to learn to compete for every point and be more consistent on the court.
