HOW IT HAPPENED
Mississippi College opened the match with a 25-23 win in the opening set. The Lady Choctaws held a 10-6 advantage midway through the contest, but witnessed the Saints rally and knot the contest at 13-all. The two squads exchanged leads and held six ties down the stretch, with the last coming at 23-all. Following a Mitchell kill to put MC up 24-23, the Southaven, Miss., senior added a service ace to clinch the set.

The two teams stood tied at 7-all in the second set, but FC went on a 10-4 run to take control of the point. The Saints rode the momentum to a 25-14 win and knotted the contest at a set each.

A 5-1 run sparked a FC win in the third set as the Saints grabbed their largest lead of the set at 24-10. MC delayed set point as it capitalized on an attack error, but Valmyr closed the set with one of her team-leading kills.

Similar to the second set, the two squads stood deadlocked at 7-all, but FC went on a 7-0 run to grab a 14-7 advantage. The Saints continued to add pressure to the Navy and Gold as it grabbed a double-digit lead at 20-10 on a kill by Tara Savisky en route to a 25-12, match-clinching win.
