CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team grabbed its second straight Gulf South Conference win with a 73-58 victory over the University of West Georgia on Monday evening. MC improves to 5-5 overall and 3-4 in GSC. UWG falls to 5-6 and 4-3 in the conference.

KEY STATS

It marks the first time this season that a Lady Choctaw duo have tallied a double-double in the same game.

Ashley Minor continued her streak of consecutive double-digit scoring efforts. The Natchez, Miss., native added a team-best 16 points. The effort comes on the heels of a career-high 23 point night in the win against West Alabama. The senior has scored in double figures six straight times.

MC led by as many as 16 points on three different occasions in the first half with the last coming with 15 second left in the first 20 minutes on a layup by Allen.

The Lady Choctaws reached its largest lead of the game, 71-49, with 1:42 left in the contest as Melissa Creese swiped the ball from UWG's Camreen White and laid the ball up on the fast break opportunity.

West Georgia never reached with 11 points the entire second half after trailing 36-23 at the intermission.
