GAME NOTES
- The Choctaws are led by 13th-year head coach
Don Lofton, who earned his 200th career victory on December 3rd in an 83-65 win over Selma.
- After a 3-1 start to the season, MC has gone through a tough stretch in the difficult Gulf South Conference. On Thursday night, the Choctaws were able to cut into a halftime deficit at North Alabama, shrinking the lead to 50-45 with 16:33 to go in the game. The Lions were able to pull away for the 93-70 victory, handing MC their 5th straight loss.
- Despite the tough stretch, junior
Stacey Mack (12.3 ppg) has played well since the calendar turned to 2017. The former McComb HS standout has scored in double-figures in all eight games, averaging 14.9 points and 8.0 rebounds, shooting 79% (46-of-58) from the free throw line.
- Sophomore
Xavion Dillon (11.4 ppg) joined the Choctaws following the Christmas break and has scored in double-figures in 6-of-10 games. On the three games of the road swing, Dillon is averaging 12.0 points and shooting 65% from the floor.
- The Chargers are led by 20th-year head coach Lennie Acuff, who won his 500th career game last week against Shorter. UAH has won 9-of-10 games with the only loss coming at Delta State (Jan. 14).
- Seab Webster (17.3 ppg, 8.4 rpg) is the team's leading scorer and rebounder, shooting 42% from the floor and 79% from the free throw line. The senior scored just seven points when MC and UAH met earlier in January.
- Brandon Roberts (14.7 ppg) is the only other Charger averaging in double-figures, but four other players are averaging at least 7.8 points per contest. Justin Ward (9.1 ppg) has been a thorn in MC's side, scoring 19 against the Choctaws on January 12th.
