FLORENCE, Ala. --- The Mississippi College men's basketball team saw a tight game early in the second half get away in a 93-70 loss at North Alabama on Thursday night in Flowers Hall.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After giving up the game's first three-points, the Choctaws (4-12, 1-11 GSC) scored the next five, capped by sophomore
Davy Fisher's three-pointer to take a 5-3 advantage just under two minutes into the game.
- On their ensuing possession, the Lions (12-7, 7-6 GSC) hit a three-pointer of their own to take a lead they would not relinquish.
- After extending their lead to 15 in the first 20 minutes, MC would score the final four points of the half to trail 45-34 at the break.
- In the second half, the Choctaws used a 5-0 run with 16:44 remaining to cut the score to 50-45 on a couple free throws by junior
Antonio Johnson.
- The Lions responded with a 9-0 run to extend the lead to 59-45, while an 11-2 run later in the half helped UNA pull away for their fourth straight victory.
KEY STATS
- Junior
Stacey Mack and sophomore
Xavion Dillon led the Choctaws with 15 points apiece, while Mack had a team-high nine rebounds.
- Senior
DeOndre Haynes was also in double-figures with 11 points and a team-high five assists.
- The Choctaws shot 40% (23-of-58) from the floor but went just 3-of-18 (17%) from the three-point line. MC did go 21-of-25 (84%) from the free throw line in defeat.
- The Lions shot 47% (36-of-76) from the field and went 10-of-29 (35%) from the three-point line.
- UNA outrebounded the Choctaws 47-34 and scored 20 points off 16 MC turnovers, while the Choctaws only had eight points off 15 Lion turnovers.
- The Lions also had 22 second-chance points to just four for the Choctaws.
- Dimario Jackson led UNA with 23 points, while Austin Timms had 14 points and 11 rebound to tally a double-double.
GAME NOTES
- Fisher's three-pointer with 18:33 remaining in the first half gave the Choctaws 498 straight games with a long ball, dating back to March 5, 1998.
- The Lions are now 30-19 all-time against the Choctaws, including 16-8 in Flowers Hall. It was UNA's first home win over MC since 1993.

- The Choctaws will wrap up a four-game road swing when they travel to face Alabama Huntsville at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
