VALDOSTA, Ga. --- The Mississippi College men's basketball team dropped a 103-79, Gulf South Conference contest on Saturday at Valdosta State University. MC falls to 4-11 and 1-10 in the conference while VSU improves to 14-3 and 9-2 in the league.

KEY STATS
Stacey Mack led a trio of Choctaws with double figures as he posted a team-best 19 points.
Brandon Boston added a career-high 18 points for the Navy and Gold while
Davy Fisher rounded out the three with 11 points.

Both squads shot over 50 percent from the field and 40 percent from behind the arc. MC posted a 52.9 clip from the floor, including 41.2 from the 3-point line, while VSU compiled a 59.7 percentage for the contest and connected on 45.5 percent from behind the arc.

VSU tallied an 82.6 clip from the free throw line while the Choctaws managed 66.7 percent, after shooting 83.3 percent in the first half.

Jeremiah Hill led a quarter of Blazers in double figures with 27 points. Josh Lemons added 17 points followed by 15 from Jimmy Kodet. Beau Justice rounded out the group with 11 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Leading 45-31 at the first of the first half, Valdosta State continued to extend its lead after the intermission. The Blazers scored 58 points in the second stanza as it outscored the Navy and Gold by 10 points over the final 20 minutes. VSU shot 70 percent or better from the floor (21-for-28), behind the arc (7 of 10) and the charity stripe (9-for-12) in the second half.

VSU grabbed its first double-digit lead, 14-3, with 16:34 left to play before the half on a 3-pointer by Lemons. The Blazers extended its margin by 17 points with 12:06 left in the first period, however, MC fought back and clipped the deficit to six points behind a 15-5 run with just over five minutes to play before the half. However, VSU closed the half on a 16-8 run to capture a 45-31 lead at the half.

The Blazers opened the second half on a 17-2 run to gain a 62-32 lead and grabbed its largest lead with 7:43 left to play on a trey by Justice giving the home squad an 88-49 advantage.
