Choctaws Fall at West Florida, 92-72

PENSACOLA, Fla. --- The Mississippi College men's basketball team dropped a Gulf South Conference game to West Florida, 92-72, on Thursday night in the UWF Field House.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Choctaws (4-10, 1-9 GSC) scored the game's first five points as senior DeOndre Haynes nailed a jumper and junior Stacey Mack hit a three-pointer to grab a 5-0 lead just over two minutes into the game.
- The Argonauts (10-5, 5-5 GSC) answered with a 17-3 run and never trailed again on their way to their third straight victory.
- UWF took a 45-33 lead into halftime, despite the Choctaws going on a 9-2 run to close out the half.
- In the second half, the Argos were able to push the lead out to as many as 28 points before the Choctaws scored eight of the final 10 points of the game.

KEY STATS
- The Argos scored 25 points off 16 MC turnovers, while the Choctaws scored six points off 11 UWF turnovers.
- MC shot 46% (26-of-56) from the field and went 5-of-18 (28%) from the three-point line with junior Davy Fisher going 3-of-5 from long range.
- The Argos shot 52% (35-of-67) from the floor and went 11-of-25 (44%) from the three-point line.
- Sophomore Xavion Dillon led all scorers with 19 points, going 7-of-10 from the floor.
- Mack poured in 13 points, while freshman Brandon Boston scored 12 with a team-high seven rebounds. Fisher was also in double-figures with 11 points.
- Freshman Tristan Hunter started his first career game, scoring seven points with two assists and two rebounds.
- Marvin Jones led the Argos with 16 points, while Jason Laatsch and Deangelo Legrier added 15. Darryl Tucker led all players with 12 rebounds on the night.

GAME NOTES
- With Mack's three-pointer in the opening minutes of the game, the Choctaws have now made a long ball in 496 straight contests, dating back to March 5, 1998.
- The Argos now hold a 5-4 edge in the series, including winning each of the last two meetings. It's UWF's first win over MC in Pensacola since January 12, 1995 (88-83).

- The Choctaws will travel to Georgia to face Valdosta State at 3:00 p.m. in The Complex.
