HUNTSVILLE, Ala. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team split a pair of contests on Saturday afternoon in Spragins Hall on the campus of the University of Alabama in Huntsville. MC (8-8, 1-7 Gulf South Conference) claimed a 3-0 win over Miles College in the first meeting in the series. The Lady Choctaws fell 3-1 in the opening contest against UAH.

The Navy and Gold used a season-high attack percentage of .408 to erase the Golden Bears as
Jenna Campbell led the team with 10 kills.
Sophia Smith notched a season-high six kills in the effort to finish third on the team.
Ashton King added seven kills

Julia Martin totaled a season-high five digs to tie for the team lead with
Sydney Chandler.

MC held Miles to a season-low nine points in the first set to dominate in a 25-9 win. After taking a 2-0 lead, the Lady Choctaws snapped a three-game skid behind a 25-12 win over the Purple and Gold in the final set.

Despite recording a season-high with 15.5 team blocks, the Lady Choctaws fell in the conference outing with UAH to open the day. The previous high of nine blocks was set against Mississippi Valley State on Sept. 6.
Jamila Biglow led the charger at the net with a career-high eight blocks with
Kayana Mitchell tying a season-best with seven – one shy of her career-high.

After falling in the first two sets 25-22 and 25-16, MC rallied back to take the third set. The Navy and Gold broke a 14-all deadlock to take a 20-15 lead. UAH answered back with a 5-0 run to knot the contest at 20-all, however, MC picked up kills from
Jenna Campbell and an ace Biglow and
Sydney Chandler. Chandler's ace clinched the set 26-24.

UAH derailed the Lady Choctaws' attempt at sending the match to five sets as the Chargers posted a 25-17 decision to notch the win.

Ashton King paced MC with 10 kills while Chandler added 21 assists – three off her season-high.
Madison Kimes logged 15 digs in the effort.

Mississippi College returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 1 as it travels to Florence, Ala., to face 24th-ranked North Alabama. Match time is set for 1 p.m.
