JACKSON, Tenn. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team dropped a 3-0, Gulf South Conference match on Friday evening at Fred Delay Gym. The setback moves MC to 6-4 on the season and 0-3 in the conference. UU improves to 4-6, 1-1 in league play.

Jenna Campbell and
Ashton King led the Lady Choctaws with eight kills each.
Bailee Berringer dished out a team-best 14 assists while
Sydney Chandler added 12. Defensively,
Madison Kimes and
Shelby Grace Mays each recorded double-digit digs with 12 and 10 respectively. Mays also tallied four blocks while
Jamila Biglow added three.

In a tightly contested, opening set the Navy and Gold held a 16-11 lead, but witnessed Union knot the contest at 19-all behind an 8-3 run. The Lady Bulldogs closed the match on a 6-3 run to cinch the match.

After Union claimed the second set 25-19, the two squads battled back and forth in the final set through the early points, however, the Red and White pushed out to a 16-11 advantage and never looked back. MC pulled within 22-15 to force UU into a timeout, but the Bulldogs claimed three of the final four points to end the match, 25-16.

Deja Moorer paced the Lady Bulldogs with 11 kills and 13 digs. Alecia Funk added 18 assists. Audrey Cagle led a trio of Bulldogs with 17 digs while Hannah Huguley compiled 11 digs.

Mississippi College returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 17 as it travels to Memphis, Tenn., to face Christian Brothers University. Match time is tabbed for 1 p.m.
