FLORENCE, Ala. --- The Mississippi College baseball team dropped a Gulf South Conference, doubleheader on Saturday, Apr. 9 as the University of North Alabama took a 13-2 win in the opening contest and 3-2 decision in the nightcap. The Choctaws move to 12-22 overall and 5-17 in conference play.

MC grabbed a two-run lead in the second frame of the second contest and held it until the bottom of the sixth inning when UNA posted three runs to edge out the Navy and Gold.
Will Elliott posted the only multiple hit effort of the affair and drove in the first run with a double that scored
Blaine Crim.
Hunter Hall followed with a single to score Elliott.

Samuel Harrison (2-4) held the Lions' at bay as he struck out six in the contest, but allowed three runs – two earned – on nine hits, including three hits in the inning to suffer his fourth loss of the season. Harrison tossed 6.2 innings.
Parker Watts closed out the contest for the Choctaws with a strikeout.

Kevin Hall placed the Lions on the board with a home run in the sixth as Connor Kiser singled to score Taylor Hayes to tie the contest at 2-all. Kyle Hubbach cinched the contest for the Lions as he scored on an error.

Leading 7-1, the Lions used a six-run, sixth inning to secure the win in the opener. MC gathered nine hits in the contest led by
Casey Echols and
Austin Warkentin, who each tallied two hits in the contest. The Choctaws first run of the contest came in the fourth inning as
Caleb Upton delivered a solo home run for his second of the season. Echols drove in the lone remaining run for the Navy and Gold with a RBI single in the seventh to score
Colton Caver.

Jake Fraze (5-3) took the loss on the bump as the sophomore tossed four innings allowing six runs on nine hits with three strikeouts.

Mississippi College returns to action on Sunday, Apr. 10 as the Choctaws look to avoid the series sweep. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
