SHREVEPORT, La. --- The Mississippi College baseball team dropped a 9-8 affair at Louisiana State University-Shreveport as the Pilots walked-off in ninth inning. MC falls to 12-20 while LSUS improved to 24-13.
Â
Caleb Lassiegne secured the win for the Pilots with a RBI-single in the bottom of the ninth. The hit was his second of the game and his second RBI.
Â
MC recorded multiple hit efforts from six hitters as
Hunter Bolin,
Logan Ferrell,
Casey Echols,
Caleb Upton,
Blaine Crim and
Hunter Hall each recorded two hits in the contest. The Choctaws tied a season-high with 15 total hits in the effort. The mark equals totals set at Southern Arkansas and vs. West Alabama.
Â
Colton Caver and Hall each tallied multi-RBI efforts.
Â
Hall placed the Choctaws on the board in the top of the fourth with a double that scored
Blaine Crim and
Toler Robinson. The Hoover, Ala., native later scored on a wild pitch to give the Navy and Gold a 3-0 advantage. However, the lead was short lived as the Pilots plated six in the bottom of the frame.
Â
MC nipped the lead to 6-5 in the top of the fifth with a pair of runs and added two more in the sixth to regain the lead at 7-6 as Caver delivered a pinch-hitting, two-run single to center field to score Bolin and Ferrell.
Â
Upton added a RBI-single in the eighth to extend the lead. The Natchez, Miss., native advanced to third on a fielding error by the center fielder, but was left stranded to end the inning. LSUS retaliated in the eighth with a pair of runs to knot the contest at 8-all.
Â
Tyler Scholl (2-2) took the loss on the mound pitching two-thirds of an inning as he allowed a run on one hit with a walk and strikeout. The hurler was one of four to toe the rubber for the Choctaws in the contest.
