PENSACOLA, Fla. --- The Mississippi College men's tennis team dropped two matches to top-10 ranked teams this weekend, falling to West Florida (9-0) and Valdosta State (5-0) at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex.
The Choctaws (10-8, 3-3 GSC) faced the #4 Argos (13-3, 7-0 GSC) on Saturday, as sophomore
Lucio Menezes and freshman Maximilan Nilges played the tighest doubles match, falling 8-4 at #2.
UWF would win the six singles matches in straight sets. Sophomore
Marcos Rocca faced the #7 player in the country, Alex Peyrot, falling 6-2, 6-4.
Sunday's match against the Blazers (10-4, 6-1 GSC) saw senior
Phillip Qu and sophomore
Sanders Barrick drop the #3 doubles match, 8-6.
Sophomore Jose Rodrigo Gonzalex (#5) won his opening set against Xavier Pineda, but the match went unfinished with the five necessary points claimed by VSU.
The Choctaws will close out their home scheduled on Tuesday when they host rival Delta State at 2:00 p.m. at the MC Tennis Complex.
