CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College baseball team returns to Gulf South Conference action this weekend as the Choctaws travel to Huntsville, Ala., to face the University of Alabama in Huntsville. The three-game series opens on Saturday, Apr. 16 with a doubleheader slated for 2 p.m. The Sunday finale is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.

Saturday's opener marks the fourth meeting between Mississippi College and UAH with the Chargers holding a 3-0 advantage in the series. The two teams have never met in Huntsville. UAH claiming a 10-3 win on Apr. 26, 1996 in Cleveland, Miss. Last season marked the first ever meeting between the two squads in Clinton with the Chargers taking both contests.

MC snapped a nine-game, skid on Tuesday with a 6-1 victory at Millsaps. The Choctaws plated all six of their runs in the first four innings and rode a solid pitching performance from
Tommy Taborda who reset season-highs with a 5.0 frames tossed and eight strikeouts. MC gathered multiple hit performances from
Casey Echols,
Logan Ferrell and
Hunter Hall.
Blaine Crim posted a two-run home run - his second of the season.

UAH dropped two of three to Valdosta State over the weekend to enter this weekend's series with a 25-15 record and 15-9 in the Gulf South Conference. The first loss to the Blazers ended a six-game win streak for the Chargers.

On the season, MC has two hitters batting .333-plus through the first 32 games.
Hunter Bolin leads the team with a .383 clip and is tied with
Logan Ferrell with a team-best 46 hits. Ferrell is batting .343 on the campaign. Crim leads the squad with 23 RBI.

Jake Fraze and
Samuel Harrison pace the Choctaws' pitching staff. Fraze and Harrison have each totaled 60-plus frames and rank first and second in strikeouts. Harrison leads the team with 54 punch outs while Fraze has tallied 36 in his sophomore campaign.

The Chargers are led by AJ Walden, who is batting .398 on the season and has 39 RBI. Wilson Adams leads the UAH hurlers with 68.0 innings of work and has totaled 75 strikeouts. Adams has also totaled seven of the team's 25 wins.

Following the weekend slate, Mississippi College returns to action on Tuesday, Apr. 19 as it travels to Jackson, Miss., to face Belhaven University. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
