MOBILE, Ala. --- The Mississippi College men's tennis team picked up their fifth straight win with a 7-2 victory at Spring Hill College on Tuesday afternoon.
The Choctaws (9-4) closed out their 4-0 spring break trip that saw them take down Mobile, Marion Military Institute and McMurry.
Senior
Phillip Qu and freshman
Maximilian Nilges opened things with an 8-6 win at #2, while sophomores
Marcos Rocca and
Jose Rodrigo Gonzalez won the #1 point, 9-7.
The Badgers (7-5) won the #3 point to trail 2-1 going to singles action.
MC put the match away with 5-of-6 wins, led by Gonzalez (#3) and sophomore
Petar Damjanovic (#4) dropping just one total game in straight-set victories.
Rocca (#1) and Qu (#5) each dropped just three total games, while sophomore Lucion Menezes (#2) picked up a 6-4, 6-3 win.
Ferdinand Amanor (#6) grabbed the lone singles point for the Badgers, taking threee sets to defeat freshman
William Clausen (1-6, 7-6 (7-5), 10-8).
The Choctaws will be back in action on Tuesday (Mar. 15) when they host Belhaven at 3:00 p.m.
