CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College men's tennis team had a five-match winning streak snapped with a 5-4 loss to Belhaven University on Tuesday afternoon at the MC Tennis Complex.
The Choctaws (9-5) fell behind after doubles action as the Blazers (8-2) took two of three points to grab an early lead.
Sophomore
Lucio Menezes and freshman
Maximilian Nilges won the #2 point by a score of 8-4.
Needing four singles wins, sophomore
Marcos Rocca got things started quickly with a 6-0, 6-0 win at #1, while Menezes won the #2 point by a score of 6-0, 6-4.
With the match tied 3-3, sophomore
Petar Damjanovic gave MC a lead with a three-set win at the #4 singles position. The players split the first two sets, but Damjanovic would get a 6-3 win in the final set.
As the last two matches stepped on court, the Choctaws needed just one more win, but Belhaven was able to get two straight-set victories to clinch the win.
The Choctaws will get back into Gulf South Conference action this weekend as they travel to face Lee on Sunday (1:00 pm) and North Alabama on Monday (11:00 am).
