CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College baseball team returns to Gulf South Conference action this weekend as the Choctaws host Union University. The weekend series opens on Sunday, Mar. 13 with a single game slated for 6 p.m. The series finale doubleheader is scheduled for Monday, Mar. 14 at 1 p.m.
Sunday's opener marks the fourth meeting between Mississippi College and Union University. The Bulldogs hold a 2-1 advantage in the series with the two squads meeting for the first time last season in Clinton. MC claimed the opening contest 3-2 in 16 innings while Union claimed the series claiming the final two outings.

Jeremy Haworth and Union. UU's head coach Lee Driggers is 18-10 all-time against the Choctaws with his stints McMurry (13-6) and East Texas Baptist (3-3) along with last season with the Bulldogs.
Mississippi College saw a late rally fall short on Tuesday against Arkansas-Monticello as the Choctaws dropped an 8-6 contest. MC, which looks to snap a four-game skid this weekend, is 7-11 on the campaign and 1-8 in the Gulf South Conference.
Logan Ferrell and
Hunter Bolin continue to lead the Choctaws offensively. Ferrell is hitting .403 on the season with 27 hits while Bolin is batting .394 and has a team-best 28 hits.
Blaine Crim and
Caleb Upton lead the team with 11 RBI each.
Samuel Harrison leads all MC hurlers with 32 strikeouts in 29.1 innings - second most on the team.
Jake Fraze has tossed a team-leading 33.1 frames and is secondn in strikeouts with 25.
Union enters the weekend riding a two-game, losing streak after dropping the series vs. Delta State last weekend. The Bulldogs claimed the opener 8-7 over the Statesmen, but fell 5-3 and 12-0 in the final two outings. The Bulldogs are 12-5 on the season and 6-3 in the GSC.
Zach Wylie and Dylan Moore lead the Bulldogs offensively. Wylie is batting a team-best .345 with 14 RBI. Moore is hitting .333 and is tied for second in RBI with 13. Ryne Roper has recorded a team-best 20 hits. Teddy Christie paces the pitching staff with 30 strikeouts in 26.1 innings of work - third most on the team - while Marty Coursey leads the team with 33.1 frames of work and 18 strikeouts - second on the team.
Tuesday contest against Louisiana State University-Shreveport has been canceled due to the weather forcing the Pilots to rescheduled conference contests for Monday and Tuesday. No rescheduled date has been set.
